The Harvard University Africa Development Conference is a student-run conference hosted annually at the university. In 2017, I was involved in the organisation of the conference as a representative from the Graduate School of Design. Together we conceptualised the theme of the conference ‘Imagining New Frontiers for Collaboration’ and developed an extensive programme showcasing top African minds in various fields.

I was responsible for developing the graphic identity of the conference. Here I turned to the colours used by previous versions of the conference, and the conference theme as a starting point. The identity was constructed around these colours, used as flat backdrops to a simple and abstracted Africa graphic. The striking nature of the graphic held the identity and the different coloured backgrounds gave it interest and dynamism. Please visit the conference website here.
